Rode this board up at Baker on a powder day. In the fresh powder this board is freaking amazing… the big nose makes it to where you literally float on top of the powder, almost as if you were surfing. Later in the day once the snow started to get choppy the board did get a little squirrelly but nothing too crazy.
If you're looking for an all around pow-slayer that's effortless.... You've found it.
I am 6’ 180# and live for powder in the trees. Been riding for 23 years and had a chance to ride some great boards. My wife was demoing skis at whistler so I thought why not “what do you have that is fun”. They recommended dropping to a messily 153 Orca. I thought at this length it would never handle my size. I was wrong. I know own 2 orca’s and have abandoned my other boards. They are very stable in all kinds of conditions. Have saved my a— on multiple occasions when I have pushed past my abilities. Love this board. I've been riding big boards for the last 15+ years from 164-168 and this 162 is killer. I'm 5'9 240 lbs and had no issues sizing down on this board. I wanted to try something smaller cause I got tired of throwing around a 168 in the trees and this was the solution. I generally ride on the East coast and this thing has no issues with ice at all. Especially considering it was originally designed to be a powder board. I ride this board every day, regardless of the conditions. The volume shifted aspect isn't an issue with quick edge to edge turns. Overall, LOVE this board. Please don't stop making the 162! I noticed all the other new Orca's only go up to 159. Keep making boards the big dudes can ride!
